For Students

Space Biomedical Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SBSEA)

This program provides hands-on opportunities for young scientists and engineers to access careers in human spaceflight and biomedical engineering through gaining scientific laboratory and/or industry experience. This collaborative program is administered through NSBRI and the laboratories of the Space 4 Biomedicine (S4B).

With the development of laboratories in the S4B, housing NSBRI Headquarters and the Center for Space Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, further apprenticeship opportunities are available in STEM disciplines related to space biomedical science and engineering. The SBSEA Program will include research opportunities in space biomedical science and engineering in one of three S4B laboratories: Astro-Omics Laboratory; Biomedical Innovation Laboratory; and Exploration Medicine Laboratory. Apprentices will receive a mentored research experience and participate in S4B and related activities.
