Figure 3. Urine formation takes place in the nephron. Filtration of the blood from the glomerulus occurs in Bowman's capsule. Reabsorption and secretion occur along the renal tubules where important chemicals and water are returned to and waste products are removed from the bloodstream. The resulting urine then travels through the collecting tubule and out of the body (via the ureters and the blatter).
