Conclusion for Focus 4

We have just completed our examination of Dr. Leach's space flight results. You have been presented with a great deal of information but you should realize by now that, what you have seen here is only a very small part of a very big picture. Let's review our familiar "Integrated Physiology" flow chart to see how our understanding of the bigger picture has evolved (Figure 23).

Figure 23. This flow chart illustrates once again the many connections that exist among the different space flight changes that occur in the human body. The highlighted boxes are those changes that were examined by Dr. Leach's experiment. In this chapter, we were able to cover a subset of these changes. Can you identify which ones?

Now is the time to take what you have learned, break it into pieces, and apply this knowledge in a "Speaking of Space" activity that should be even more fun than usual. You will still be asked to break into small groups to answer a few questions about the data sets or graphs from Dr. Leach's experiments that we just reviewed. But this activity is somewhat less formal than what we have done before. Let's get started.
