NSBRI funds science and technology projects that explore solutions to the health-related problems and physical and psychological challenges men and women face on long-duration spaceflights.
In this section, you will find:
NSBRI has two annual funding opportunities.
- Current solicitations open for proposals
- Solicitations occurring in the last five years
- Selection statistics for recent NSBRI solicitations
- Information on award requirements
The Institute typically releases a funding announcement each year. For most solicitations, proposals are evaluated through a two-step process. Each year's solicitation will clearly define the research emphases that proposals must address and will outline eligibility and the process for electronically submitting proposals. Completed proposals undergo scientific peer review and programmatic review.
Postdoctoral Fellowship Program Solicitations
NSBRI solicits applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowship Program annually. Applicants must prepare proposals with the support of a mentor, and all proposals are evaluated by a peer-review panel. The program is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or persons with pre-existing visas obtained through their sponsoring institutions that permit postdoctoral training for the project's duration. The Fellowship must take place in a U.S. laboratory carrying out space-related biomedical or biotechnological research that supports the NSBRI's goals.
