NSBRI’s Food and Fitness - Online Professional Development for Science Teachers The Center for Educational Outreach at Baylor College of Medicine is offering a series of free web-based professional development opportunities presented by scientists and science educators, and designed to meet the continuing professional development educational needs of science teachers. Online professional development is available for NSBRI’s Food and Fitness teacher activity guide, written for grades six through eight. The online workshop presents seven classroom activities preparing teachers to assist students as they learn about energy in living organisms, metabolism and nutrition. Activities for students also include techniques to make life-long healthy eating and activity choices, such as determining proper serving sizes, understanding food labels, and assessing nutritional and exercise options. The Food and Fitness Activity Guides for Teachers, including reproducible pages for students, can be downloaded in PDF format. The professional development program can be accessed here: (BioEd Online – Food and Fitness Workshop).
