Leadership from NSBRI and the Operational Space Medicine and Life and Physical Sciences Directorates of the Canadian Space Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in March 2009. This MOU promotes collaboration in scientific research, development and education between the two organizations.
Institute of Biomedical Problems
NSBRI has a long relationship with the State Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation – Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Currently, NSBRI is participating in the Mars 520-Day Mission Simulation which began on June 3, 2010. The NSBRI scientific team led by Dr. David F. Dinges is monitoring the six international crew members’ rest-activity cycles, performance and psychological responses to determine the extent to which sleep loss, fatigue, stress, mood changes and conflicts occur during the 520-day mission.
